I was joking with Jessica the other day that one of the perks of being friends with her is that whenever I want something from her line…I don’t have to pay for shipping!
I wrote a post last year about Jes’ debut line of swimwear before I had even met her in person, and I am so proud that her line has just gotten more fabulous this season!

There are more designs and color options on the website.
BTW, Jes will have a booth at the Catholic Thrive Conference in Anaheim this weekend, and I will be there too. So if you’re going to to the conference, please stop by and say hello to the both of us. I’ll be at the Catholic Underground LA booth.

Lucky, free shipping!
I think I’m going to order one of these this weekend…
Thanks for the great links, I’ve been looking for a new swimsuit and this helps tremendously!
God bless+

Unfortunately, I would not recommend Rey Swimwear. I ordered a swim suit from there, it didn’t fit well (not only too small, but a bad design for my body type), and they would not give me a refund. I paid to ship it back but since that was the only thing I liked on their website, I had to just exchange it for the next size up. Of course, it still didn’t look right for my body type, and ended up being way too big on top. I guess I’m out $60.
Did you look at her return policy before you made your purchase? It states that there are no returns, which is standard for smaller designers. It isn’t a designer’s fault if her garment doesn’t fit you’re body type.
Please don’t think I’m trying to defend Jessica because I know her, it’s just that you can’t blame her or any other online boutique if you don’t read their policy before you purchase.
What a great company! I am particularly smitten with the Gaby suit.
Nope, I didn’t see it. Well, lesson learned. What’s not good for the customer is not good for return business either.
If I can comment on one of your points, it might not be the designer’s “fault” if the garment doesn’t fit my body type, but I’d think it would be in her best interest to try to make her customers happy. Not being able to return something as finicky to fit as a bathing suit is ludicrous.
Jessica’s policy is standard for indie designers. The reason I’m siding with her is because again, you can’t blame a designer for what is the consumer’s responsibility—looking at the returns and exchanges policy before you purchase.
It’s very expensive to make swimwear. If you’re a large company like Old Navy you can afford to take products back, especially since you have a store. For smaller labels, this is not the case. Also, hygiene is an issue with returning swimwear.
Your complaint wasn’t that the suit was of poor quality. I just really don’t think it’s fair to be upset with the designer when you didn’t read the return policy and when there is no guarantee that each suit will fit anyone’s body type. There’s a size chart on the site, did you use that?
I just ordered a swimsuit from them, and sadly I picked the wrong size top. After contacting them though, I got more detailed sizing information…they were very helpful! So if you have weird sizing and have a hard time shopping online (like me) I’d suggest getting more info before you buy. They’re more than happy to help.
I should be getting the new one next week and can’t wait to wear it! : )
