I’ve become convinced that there is a whole other set of fashion standards when it comes to traveling. You want to be comfortable since you have to sit for a while, but you don’t want to look frumpy either. I’m very anti-sweatpants or anything of the sort, though I would never go so far as to wear heels (as I have witnessed some women wear.)
When I flew to Mexico I wore skinny jeans, a vintage tee, a boyfriend cardigan, and some nautical-inspired slip-on shoes…basically an outfit that was cute yet comfortable and simple enough to slip on and off when going through security. I went to Atlanta last weekend and wore a sundress with a sweater and sandals. My mother scoffed at the dress when I first walked out of my room the morning I left, but it was made out of jersey fabric and therefore still comfortable to walk around in.
For me, the fashion staples of travel wear are slip-on shoes to pass easily through security, a great bag for all of my items (e.g. my passport, rosary, and fashion magazines), and cute sunglasses for sleeping on the plane.
But in any case, I was looking for examples of travel outfits and found some great paparazzi shots of celebs at LAX. People sure are rocking the summer scarf trend pretty hard:

I love Ebay. If there is anything you need to know about me…it’s that I ADORE Ebay. I buy many things from there, from camera accessories to clothes. I just bought the following dress from one of my favorite seller’s Sensible Choice. A tank underneath makes it Modestia-approved.

Admittedly, purchasing from SC can get a little pricey since they are located in Thailand and shipping isn’t free. But the “maxi dress” (the floor-length casual dress) was one of the biggest trends this summer, and SC’s pieces are beautiful…I think it’s worth it.
Occasionally, SC apparel goes for cheaper, like this little number, currently at $14.99:

I took a trip to Cabo San Lucas with some friends of mine during the month of May. And hence, how about some Mexican-inspired modestia?
The day before I left on my trip I went to Target to buy some sunscreen. I saw this little number hanging on the rack and just had to have it. If I remember correctly it was only $20:

I also bought this “Salsa Dress” from Old Navy before I left. I loved the color, and with a sweater on top it’s perfect for mass.

This dress is by BCBG Max Azria…work it girl.

Two very cute pieces from Cynthia Steffe:
